(Click on an image to go to a larger version) Sheffield City Council was awarded £2,060,000 by the Heritage Lottery Fund to help with the restoration of Weston Park. Major restoration works have been on-going in the Weston Park since March ’07 and are to be completed in 2008, returning the park to its former glory. There have been many improvements and Cirencester Civil Engineering (CCE) was delighted to be involved with the decorative surfacing. They were contracted by P Caseys (Land Reclamation) Limited to resin bond all of the paths around the park. Work commenced on site in the beginning of May. During CCE’s first visit, some 5,000m2 of newly Tarmacadam pathways were sealed and then Addastone resin, bonded with 1-3mm Staffordshire Pink/3mm Grey Granite 50/50 mix. The Architects, Chris Blandford Associates, selected this unusual mix of aggregate. During CCE’s second visit the remaining pathways were completed giving a total of 7,200m2. The park looks wonderful and every one agrees that the restoration work was money well spent. The City of Sheffield has a park to be proud of and an open space where every one can enjoy peace and quiet in the gardens of the park, away from the hustle and bustle of the busy city of Sheffield.
