(Click on an image to go to a larger version) Snowshill Manor is a traditional Cotswold manor set in a lovely village over looking the Vale of Evesham. The pathways through the estate were originally chalk and were subject to weather erosion; they required constant maintenance to ensure safe passage for the many visitors that came to view the house and landscaped gardens during the open months. Cirencester Civil Engineering was asked to address the problem with the pathways. The works involved edging the pathways with timber and putting in drainage channels to remove excess water. The paths were laid with Tarmacadam and an Addastone resin bonded surface was laid using a 1-3mm Corn Flint aggregate. The aggregate was carefully chosen by the Trust to blend into its environment. The Trust and management at Snowshill Manor are delighted with the results. The surface to the paths are now non slip and relatively maintenance free, and the buggy which is used to transport the less able bodied visitors up to the Manor and back has a much smoother journey up and down the pathways. CCE is looking forward to a continued working relationship with the National Trust. ENDS February 2008 |
