(Click on the image to go to a larger version) After a troublesome start with surface water at the Princes Diana Memorial Fountain, Cirencester Civil Engineering Ltd. were contracted by Whitehorse Contractors Ltd. to provide the expertise in laying 840 square metres of Addastone TP surface, and also fitted the aluminium restraining edge around the area. A dark coloured natural aggregate was chosen to complement the granite and The project was completed in a month. Mike Sugg of Cirencester Civil Engineering commented “ We have used the Addastone TP over many years – it’s very easy material to work with and we have found it to be tough and long lasting.” The architects, Gustafson Porter Ltd selected the Addastone TP material because of its “free draining” properties. Mary Bowman of Gustafson Porter explains “We liked the material as it meant that we could use land drainage in the path foundations instead of unattractive and expensive conventional path drainage – it could also cope with slopes in the landform. We also wanted to save installation time with a quicker solution like this the park was only closed for a limited time. Both architects and contractors were delighted with the results. Mike Sugg adds: “The surface works fantastically well with the water draining straight off, leaving a safe surface to walk on. ENDS September 2006 |
